Biography of Dr. Kamal Humayun Kabir, Director General, BSRI
Dr. Kamal Humayun Kabir is the son of Late Tozammel Hossain Miah and Mrs. Hamida Begum of Village Basohati, Sundarganj Upazilla under Gaibandha district. He was born in 05th October 1955. Prior to joining in this post he worked as Director (Research) at Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute, Joydebpur, Gazipur.
He was awarded a first class M.Sc. Degree in Zoology from Rajshahi University during 1976. He pursued his Ph.D in Entomology from Lincoln University, New Zealand in 1992. He attended a good number of training courses in home and abroad. For the professional purpose he visited New Zealand, Taiwan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, India and Nepal. He published a good number of scientific and popular articles in home and abroad.
He joined as Scientific Officer at BARI Head Office, Joydebpur, Gazipur on 24th November 1979. He promoted to Senior Scientific Officer on 01st June 1987; Principal Scientific Officer on 01st June 2004 and Chief Scientific Officer on 31st December 2008 in same office. Ha was further promoted to Director (Tuber Crop) on 15th February 2011 and Director (Research) on 10th September 2012.
He is married and blessed with a son and a daughter.
