The institute has already established a network of collaboration in sugarcane research and development and developed strong linkages with different organizations at home and abroad. Within the country, it has functional linkage with BAU, Rajshahi University, Dhaka University and the NARS Institutes (BARI, BRRI, BJRI, BINA).

            BSRI has also a network for exchanging information and Germplasm exchange with the following organizations :

On the other hand this institute is mandated to exchange sugarcane varieties with Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand and Malaysia.

            Earlier, two joint venture projects had been completed, one of which was entitled as Bangladesh Australia Sugar Industry Project (BASIP) and another Joint Venture Project was on with Philippines Sugar Research Institute Foundation Inc. (PHILSURIN) entitled as 'CFC/ISO/20'. Other joint venture projects are still under process.
