Programme Planning, Review and Implementation

Preparation of Annual Research Programme of BSRI is accomplished through a series of steps. BSRI arranges a Research-Extension workshop every year before formulation of its annual research programme for the next cropping year. The scientists of the research divisions including all regional and sub-stations develop their research programme, emphasizing the findings of the Research-Extension Workshop and their own work experience in their respective fields. The program is then reviewed by the experts. During this review, scientists also present the results of related studies and other references. Thus the program is finalized after thorough discussion and necessary modifications. For the programme review, BSRI generally invites experts and senior researchers from different universities like Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Bangabandhu Shaikh Muzibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU), Dhaka University, Rajshahi University, Khulna University etc.) research Organizations (i.e. BARI, BRRI, BJRI, BINA, BARC etc.) and extension organizations (i.e. DAE, BSFIC, BADC, NGOs etc.). The draft Annual Research Programme (ARP) is then placed before the BARC for technical approval and finally to the Institute's Management Board for formal approval. The finalized ARP, prepared in a bound from, becomes the responsibility of the proponent/assigned scientist(s) for implementation subject to availability of fund. The major areas of BSRI research programmes are as follows :

The institute also conducts training (for both trainers and farmers), seminars, symposia, organizes farmers rally, field day, publishes books, reports, manuals, folders, leaflets and other literatures for technology dissemination.
